On your device

Package Firewall checks packages locally. The activity history, your allow list and the packages you install stay on your computer. The app does not upload telemetry or a record of what you install.

What we keep for your account

• Your email address, which you use to sign in.
• The devices signed in to your account (a device name and identifier), so we can apply the 5-device limit.
• Your subscription status and dates: which plan, when it renews or ends, and whether it came from an invite code, the student licence or a normal purchase.
• A link between your account and your Polar customer record.
• If you used the student offer, a one-way fingerprint (hash) of your email address, so the offer is not claimed twice.

We do not store your card number. Our logs of billing events hold event identifiers and types, not your email address or amounts.

Polar, our merchant of record and processor

Payments are handled by Polar. Polar is the seller and acts as merchant of record: it collects your payment details, charges your card, calculates and collects sales tax and VAT, issues receipts and processes refunds. For this, Polar receives your email address and payment details, and is responsible for them under its own privacy policy. It also processes data for us as a service provider.

Everyone who subscribes or claims a licence is a Polar customer, including people with an invite code or a student licence. If you use an invite code, a card is still collected because the subscription renews on its own when the free period ends, so Polar holds your card. The student licence is a $0 one-time order with no card, but Polar still keeps a customer record and the order.

Deleting your account

If you delete your account in the app, your subscription is cancelled immediately and we remove your account. Polar keeps your customer record and past orders because it is the seller and has legal duties to keep them. We keep the link to your Polar customer, and the email fingerprint for the student offer, so a later refund, dispute or new sign-up can be matched.
